Blog Tour - Review of Soul Oath and Giveaway

19 Dec 2013

This is book 2 in a series, you can check out book 1 here. The following post contains spoilers for the first book.

Soul Oath by Juliana Haygert

Synopsis

It’s been three months since Nadine last heard from Victor, Micah or Ceris, allowing her to concentrate on her own life. But until Victor and Micah find the scepters that will restore them as true gods, their human bodies will require her healing touch and it’s only a matter of time until they wreak havoc on her life again.

As if to prove that, Victor shows up at the hospital dragging along with him a swarm of demons. Nadine is forced to flee to safety. Despite her attempts to keep her loved ones protected, the demons find her, and they bring her to Imha, the goddess of Chaos.

Now, confronted by her greatest fear, Nadine finds a new motivation. Vengeance. And when seeking revenge, no risk is too great, including her own life.

Review

I loved the first book in the Everlast trilogy and Soul Oath is just as good. You don't find many NA novels in genres other than contemporary romance, yet this series mixes brilliantly both dystopian and fantasy/paranormal elements proving that you can get some amazing and different NA.

For most of this book Nadine is emotionally very strong, tough and she holds her own in very difficult situations. I really loved that however she did have her weaker moments and though she had very good reasons, everything we had seen of her so far had me expecting her to remain strong in that situation.

I love the uniqueness of this storyline; I have never read anything else like this! There are so many things that you wont expect and the mix of genres works surprisingly well.

Micah is such a great character, forget musicians or fighters, this love interest is a God! He and Nadine have such great chemistry that I kept begging them (in my head of course :P) to stop fighting it. There is also linger tension with Victor and I was very anxious to know if Nadine's feelings for him were entirely created by Ceris or if she did actually love him. I had been wanting Victor and Nadine to get together but Micah won me over in this book and now I am rooting for him!

Destiny Gift and Soul Oath were both so amazing and it looks like book 3 is going to be one heck of an incredible ending. I cant wait to see what is going to happen next and how the story ends. I cant predict what will happen so I cant wait for Juliana to show us with the final book!

  2. I loved Destiny Gift and would love to read the sequel soon! Haven't read too many other non-contemp NA books but LOVE the experiment in terror series by Karina Halle. Thanks!
